Happy New Year 2023 from From My Carolina Home

I didn’t get a tablescape done in time for this post, so here is my Japanese Inspired Tablescape from my New Year post in 2020, along with recipes. Everything on the table except the flowers and napkins came from my thrift store and estate sale excursions. I love these lacquer dishes and they blend nicely with the black stoneware with the gold embellishments I use mostly around the New Year weekend. This year I am planning to donate more dishes and tablescaping stuff, and just have less stuff all around.

Most years, I put out an all white table ...

Update: Fat Quarter Lattice Quilt is back from the quilter from Carried Away Quilting

Hello quilting friends! I haven’t posted on my blog in about a month, and a few of you have noticed. I’ve received some sweet emails and messages, just checking in to see if everything is okay in the Carried Away Quilting sewing room. All is well here, I’ve just been busy behind the scenes.  I do have some fun things to show you in the coming weeks, including a new pattern.

Today I thought I’d share progress on a winter project that I just got back from the machine quilter, my Fat Quarter Lattice quilt. I ...

Winter White Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

Putting all the holiday things away, January is a time when I like to clean the slate. After the clutter and fullness of decorating for Autumn and Christmas, my January decorating is usually simple. Of course that means a new tablescape, so I set a table with mostly white and took a few photos. Then I realized, I used all the same things as last year essentially the same way – snowflake plates, crystal napkin rings, silver chargers. The only difference is the centerpiece was round last year and didn’t have the mittens. Plus, instead of looking clean this year ...

Fabric kits for Buffalo Check Winter from Carried Away Quilting

Hello quilting friends! I’m popping in quickly to let you know that LouLou’s Fabric Shop has restocked fabric kits for my Buffalo Check Winter pattern!  LouLou’s offered kits when the pattern released in August, but they quickly sold out. Here's your second chance to nab one!

Remember, the pattern is a digital (PDF) pattern which needs to be purchased from my Etsy shop. The fabric kits are available directly from LouLou’s.

That’s the post. I told you I was popping in quickly. Have a great day everyone!

New pattern: Buffalo Check Winter from Carried Away Quilting

Last month I introduced you to a brand new pattern called Buffalo Check Autumn. Today I'm pleased to share another pattern in my buffalo check inspired series. This one is named Buffalo Check Winter, and it features modern evergreen trees and festive crimson stars.

My sample quilt was made using Moda Bella Solids and a beautiful new collection by Holly Taylor, called Winter White. This collection celebrates traditional colors and cozy Northwoods-themed prints, which will provide a warm and inviting look for our guest room this winter. This is a holiday quilt which can stay on the bed for ...

Winter White from From My Carolina Home

After the clutter of the autumn season, and Christmas, January is a time for scaling back, clearing the table, and cleaning up.  For many years now, I have decorated our home in all white for the first month of the new year.  I often say it is like a palate cleanser at the end of a rich meal, a way to take a rest from the abundant decorations of the holiday seasons.  This year, I pulled from items used in years past, setting the table with my everyday white stoneware and using the arrangement from last year in a new ...
